And this game would have failed faster than it is now. Probably the most honest answer so far. To Vin Vicious, I can't comment on you being a loser but you do sound like an idiot. Months of open beta testing before the official launch is not quite the same as ten years of being live. Either way, I don't suppose CCP will give an answer so the rest is just supposition Oh that's cute, dont get upset because you didn't start the game during open beta. ima sum this thread for you from a reader perceptive, "I didn't start playing when the vets did, and that's not fair" this games been live since the beginning of open beta you moron, saying "open beta" is a companies way of saying, "don't review this until we feel its ready to be reviewed" Was the game downloadable by anyone during open beta? YEP that's LIVE. Good day sir! /thread I was with you until "/thread", which is almost as bad "tl;dr". I'm going to continue to add to the conversation even though you feel nothing more needs to said. With all due respect I don't give a ****.
Words like "BETA" and "Commercial Release" have been thrown around these forums more than **** a monkey whorehouse even though they're just as meaningless as "all natural" or "clinically proven". Doesn't matter what they called it, the game is free to play and it was available to every PS3 owner with an internet connection. Everybody had the same chance to start at the same time on a level field. Not my fault if someone didn't start when I did.
And I'm getting really, really sick of people whining about SP being the only reason I won/you died. When I die that's nobody's fault by my own. I can't blame SP because odds are I have more than they do. But you know what? It's not as important as you think it is.
I've always bought boosters and I'm currently "between jobs" so I can play much more than most. But I've always put a little SP in to everything. I've been playing this game since around August/September of last year. I unlocked officer weapons for the very first time two weeks before open BETA. Trained 2 levels of sharpshooter proficiency the next week (that was back when that skill was...kind of a big deal). My Minmitar Assault is the first proto suit I've ever unlocked, ever. I had proto AR's and proto forges, every other weapon was only advanced. Sure I had my core skills maxed but do you really think my extra 20 shields made me a god? I only had to miss twice and you'd have the upper hand. My point is I've had both a ton of SP and very few skills maxed out so I can tell you that once you get past a few basic skills that should take at the most a few weeks to a month you're lying to yourself if you think SP was the only reason you died.
Was I the best player in the game back then? Nope. And even with all my proto gear there are several players that are leaps and bounds above me skill wise. But even my 'inferior' advanced suits and non proficiency skill having ass any of those better players that ran up on me thinking I'd be an easy kill either wound up dead or looking for a place to hide and recharge.
My point is, aside from brand new players in militia fits vs. veterans with full proto gear, the SP gap can always be overcome with smart gameplay, quick thinking, teamwork and the ability to run very, very fast. |
